Missing shipments happen from time to time on eBay. If you purchased an item on eBay and the shipment hasn't arrived, there are the steps you can take to try and track it down or ask to get your money back. According to eBay rules, you are entitled to a refund or replacement item from the seller unless they have tracking information that confirms the package was delivered.
To start the process, you can reach out to the seller directly, but you have to wait until at least three days past the estimated delivery date.
Australia Post Tracking Number Fake
If the seller doesn't offer delivery confirmation, doesn't provide a resolution or you simply don't receive a response in that time, you can ask eBay to intervene. You can do this by logging into your account and clicking the " My eBay " link, which will take you to a summary page. There, you'll click on the "Purchase history" link on the left sidebar, locate the item in question, click "See request details," followed by "Ask eBay to step in. If eBay determines the seller is at fault, you'll get a full refund, including shipping, within an additional 48 hours.
If the seller responds but doesn't have delivery confirmation, they can either issue a refund or offer a replacement item. Otherwise, if the seller provides tracking information that confirms the package has been delivered, there is no further obligation for a refund from them.
Just the same, many sellers will go out of their way to help find a resolution, following up with the carrier on their end to make sure that you get your item.
Sometimes the shipment may have also been insured, so it's definitely worth communicating with your seller. You can also try tracing the shipment yourself. Before putting your detective skills to work, review the email correspondence you've received from eBay and PayPal to ensure the address is correct on both sites.
If the package was sent to the wrong address, you'll be better positioned to explain your situation in any discussion or dispute. If the package was sent through USPS, you can also pay a visit to the post office with your tracking number and have them trace the precise shipping route.
Sometimes packages marked as delivered went to the right zip code but the wrong address. Drivers also sometimes leave packages in a "hidden location" behind a bush, under a mat, or inside a rear screen door, for instance to prevent theft.
If this is the case, there may be a note about the package's location posted in the system. It also might be worth stopping by the neighbors to see if they might have grabbed the package either by mistake or for safekeeping.
In the vast majority of cases, the missing shipment situation will ultimately get resolved and your package will be delivered. If not, you can look into reimbursement through PayPal or your credit card provider, which may offer such protections for their customers.Share best practices, tips, and insights.
Meet other eBay community members who share your passions. How does a seller get away with this? How is this corrected. He is avoiding ebay fees by doing this.
I got one that is invalid. There's also an order number too. As others have already told you, the seller isn't avoiding ebay fees although he may be trying to reduce the asinine PayPal fees. As others have also already told you, the "fake" tracking number doesn't matter -- at least not if YOU are honest.
I would bet that the item you bought is small and probably inexpensive. Most likely it is something that fits in an ordinary first class envelope. And that is probably how the seller has shipped it: In a regular envelope, by first class mail, which has no tracking available. Apparently the seller tried to mark the item as shipped - for which eBay wants to have a tracking number. There does not seem to be any reason to think the seller is doing anything bad.
Either they mailed your item or they didn't. Either it will arrive or it won't. If it doesn't arrive, you will open an Item Not Received claim and you will get your money back. If it does arrive, you can be honest and post correct feedback or you can be dishonest and file a claim to steal a few dollars from the honest seller. Hi everyone, Due to the length of time that has passed since this thread began, we have locked it from future replies.
If this is still an issue that warrants discussion, don't hesitate to begin a new thread HERE. Since the tracking number is invalid, if you never get the item, you'll win an item never received claim. What makes you think that the seller is avoiding fees? If the buyer paid the seller to ship You are at no risk whatsoever if the tracking number is fake That means you'll automatically win a dispute if you need to file one.

Fake tracking number. Seller won’t refund.
Meet other eBay community members who share your passions. I bought 3 items from different sellers. But I'm unable to track those packages. Are those tracking numbers FAKE? You are in Georgia, Russia Lots going on between countries Where are you items supposed to be coming from? Look at your 'won' items listings and see what ebay says as far as delivery dates Be prepared to understand what's going on with Russian issues, Customs hold many packages, sometimes not even ever delivered.
Really sorry that human being who are just regular people have to deal with these issues and hope your packages will eventually arrive, if not confiscated and never show up at your doorstep. AND the sellers who have sent items that never arrive. They are out, as well. The numbers appear to be Customs tag numbers from China Post. I do not know if they are trackable outside China. My ebay account was registered using Georgian address but my ebay delivery address is - New Castle, Delaware as thats where I live.
I never had issues earlier when I bought things from chinese sellers. But seems like nowadays they are entering fake tracking numbers. Actually its supposed to be trackeable. The website for tracking is:. Tracking is your seller's worry, not yours. Just keep an eye on the time limit for item not received claims. As above. Simply making up tracking numbers will not benefit the seller; they have to prove a Delivered scan to your own ZIP code.Share best practices, tips, and insights.
Meet other eBay community members who share your passions. I'm used to Chinese sellers providing a non-working tracking number on their shipments, but now even U.
It makes me suspicious that they aren't really based in the U. One time I bought an item from a seller clearly "based in the U. I know sellers are not required to providie a tracking number, so why lie about it??
As I said, eBay sends it, not the seller. The seller will then take the package to the post office, a drop box, or a mail carrier will pick it up. That might be the same day or the next day, maybe two days. It is not going to get scanned until it is handled at the post office. Personally I don't use eBay shipping, I use another postage company, so I send out the tracking numbers to my buyers myself, and they don't get a false shipment notice from eBay.
Some of those buyers get the package before the 48 hours have passed! When an ebay seller generates a label, it says that a label has been created, NOT that the item has been shipped. I'm used to Chinese sellers providing a non-working tracking number on their shipments. Actually they do work, but it is a matter of hunting down the shippers involved. There are sites to track both Hong Kong, and China Post numbers.
However, they only give info up until the item leaves Chinese control. Then there are tracking numbers that give no information until the item arrives in the US, at a fulfillmemt center. UPS has arrangements with foriegn postal systems, and issue tracking numbers that do just that. The item arrives from China or elsewhere, and the number becomes active after that. There are several sellers who have locations, in places where there are major hubs, or ports.
Even a few in Kentucky, where UPS has a huge hub. Some are warehouses many of the seller's items ship from, but many items come from China as well.
Did you know that eBay actively helps chinese sellers find warehousing space, in the US? The trick is to check a seller's feedback profile, carefully. Do they have many non positives mentioning slow shipping, or packages received from China?Share best practices, tips, and insights.
Meet other eBay community members who share your passions. The seller didn't post any shipping information to eBay, but after a few days I get a notification saying tracking information had been uploaded to Paypal.
I found this strange, since I had never ever seen anything like that before. Naturally I was surprised when I checked the tracking info it said it had been "delivered" 2 days earlier, since I know I never received it. I called Paypal right away to let them know about this and open a case. They assured me not to worry and that they would give the seller 3 days to prove delivery otherwise it would be closed in my favor. The next day, I was stunned to see an email from Paypal saying they had closed the case in the sellers favor.
I called and spent 30 minutes on the phone with FedEx explaining this to them and desperately asking them to help. A nice lady on the other end took the time to send me an email showing the address that tracking number was actually delivered to, and I called Paypal and provided them with this information for the "appeal". Another strange thing about it is that the name on the package said "To the realtor of" and then the other address. It was an address in my city, state and zip, but not the same street and not the same street numbers.
Is there anything more I can do at this point other than wait and just HOPE that Paypal isn't completely incompetent in this matter?? I really cannot for the life of me understand how Paypal could allow such scams to take place. This scamming seller belongs in prison! Any help would be greatly appreciated, please do not comment with useless remarks like "this is why you should never buy or sell stuff on ebay!
Go to Solution. View solution in original post. Yep they have their own forums, but they are never used and empty. So I figured I'd come here since hundreds if not thousands of people are reading here constantly. Something is definitely a bit "off" about that seller because I am noticing they sold 2 of these laptops in the listing you bought yours from on April 2 and then on April 11 they sold 2 more of these, yet their description seems to indicate something about they just bought 1 of these so I wonder how they ended up selling 4 of them?
I'm sending you a private message so watch for it as I didn't want to post this info in this thread. Paypal credit is when they advance you the money and you pay back a minimum amount each month so, yes you would have to pay it back if you lose.
It works like a credit card but I do not think you can file a chargeback with them. But you can ask. This seems to be a scam I have seen here before where a seller sends something to a fake address with zip code in a buyers home town and then uploads tracking to prove it was sent. But doesn't it have to be your actual street address. Just repeatedly point out to paypal that this was sent to someone else, not you as this is not the street address on your paypal account and never has been.
You need to ask for a supervisor and just keep going up the paypal food chain until you can make someone understand this was a scam. What does his feedback look like? I have posed there, and there are actually people who do post there and help others. I wouldn't call it "never used" or "empty. It was a new seller, but that didn't even bother me before because I've always had confidence in the MBG and didn't even think it was possible to be scammed as a buyer here. Also the price was good for the item, but not suspiciously good where it was too good to be true.Go to Solution.
Sometimes the items are not scanned into the system immediately It was due to be delivered 05th May I have tried tracking the parcel but can't seem to find it.
It always gets me why an item coming to say, central NSW from Vic, showsall movements in that state, but once it gets to the mail centre at Chullora NSW, the tracking stops there, and nothing is added any further. Just says ''in transit''. Surely it must be scanned at the distrubution centres around the state, which for the central west is Orange I believe. What's more concerning is that your tracking is invalid on May I'd ask the seller to confirm they gave you the right number.
Ask a question on the listing near the bottom for that. To me that looks like an overseas tracking number, with the AU at the end. They often don't show up until they land here and AP gives it a local number. More often than not, you can't track it at all. The next you hear of it will be when it gets delivered to you. Just play the waiting game as we all do. The only reason to take notice of the estimated delivery date, is that eBay money back guarantee claims have to be started within thirty days of that date.
Or thirty days of actual delivery, if it arrived but there's a different problem.
Could you post the item number so we can see if the listing gives any clues as to what might be going on? In case nobody has noticed many of the Chinese sellers now list their item location as being in Au. This one really raises a RED flag for me. The item is being shipped from China.Share best practices, tips, and insights. Meet other eBay community members who share your passions.
I've been selling on eBay since and this is new. About 3 months ago I started getting complaints that the tracking numbers were not working, that they were fake. I found this from the shippingeasy Web site:.
